Evans O'Brien
An Air Force veteran, Evans comes to Acanthus with a decade of experience as in-house counsel with JPMorgan Chase Bank. As the lead attorney supporting JPMorgan’s Auto Finance, Business Banking, and Private Bank lines of business in their nationwide bankruptcy operations, Evans worked closely with Compliance, Audit, and other control functions to ensure adherence to appliable state and federal laws. During his time with the bank Evans also advised on account-level legal risks and litigation strategies, drafted policies and procedures for bankruptcy and collections litigation activities, and directed a national network of over 30 law firms, among other roles and responsibilities.
Prior to his time at JPMorgan, Evans was an associate attorney at the Phoenix office of Snell & Wilmer, LLP. While at the firm, Evans appeared in a large number of state and federal matters across the country, representing plaintiffs, defendants, creditors, debtors, and equity holders in various disputes, with a focus on bankruptcy and corporate reorganizations.
Before attending law school at the University of Arizona, Evans served as a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force for nearly a decade as a navigator on the KC-135 and EC-130 airframes. While on active duty, Evans deployed to multiple overseas locations, including three deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Evans loves to catch the Tar Heels in person whenever possible.
