Mission Statement
Acanthus partners with parishes to create senior living communities that
keep families together and build strong relationships.
Who We Are
Acanthus Senior Living is a senior living developer whose purpose is to serve the senior living needs of parishes throughout the US. Acanthus is the result of years of brainstorming and interaction between Bart Shea, its founder and CEO, and representatives of the Catholic Diocese of Phoenix.
What We Do
Acanthus Senior Living was organized to establish senior living facilities on available appropriately sized church grounds. While all people are welcome to become Acanthus residents, the facilities are specifically designed to function symbiotically with the surrounding parishes.
Why We Do It
For most Americans, the transition from their home of years to a senior living community can be difficult. Acanthus was formed to create senior living facilities close to a parishioner’s parish, benefitting the entire family and preserving their relationship
Our Communities
“Not only will each senior living community help the parish mission of providing beautiful state of the art housing for their senior members, each development will pay a land lease directly to the parish to support their operations and other mission goals. The average size of the senior community will be 150 rooms. The residents will now have the ability to attend regular services of the church and other events.
